MELANIA’S EPSTEIN PROBLEM
Yesterday, Melania Trump conducted a bizarre so-called “press conference” where she read a prepared statement, obviously written by someone else, denying any substantive involvement with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. According to her statement, her only connection to Epstein and Maxwell was having been “invited to the same parties as Epstein from time to time.”
Keep in mind, this was a “press conference” where the press was not permitted to ask her a single question.
She stated without expressing a lot of conviction that “[t]he lies linking me with the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today.”
What prompted this inexplicable out of the blue denial of involvement with Epstein?
There appears to be only one reasonable explanation —she is trying to get out in front of a story relating to her lawsuit with the journalist Michael Wolff. Here is what we know about that lawsuit, and where it currently stands.
On October 15, 2025, lawyers representing Melania sent a letter to Wolff threatening to sue him for defamation and libel for “over $1 billion dollars.”
The letter claimed Wolff defamed Melania by saying she was “very involved in Epstein Scandal,” she could be the “missing link” in “Trump’s ties” to Epstein, she was “very involved in Epstein’s social circle,” and that at the time she met Trump, “Epstein [knew] her well.”
She claimed in her “press conference” that “Epstein did not introduce me to Donald Trump. I met my husband, by chance at a New York City party in 1998.”
She further said, “My attorneys and I have fought these unfounded and baseless lies with success and will continue to maintain my sound reputation without hesitation.” She also complained about the ”lies about me” in “The Daily Beast” where it was reported Wolff claimed, among other things, Epstein introduced Trump to Melania.
However, on October 21, 2025, Wolff responded to Melania’s lawyer letter, by filing a declaratory lawsuit in the Manhattan state court asking the court to find that none of his statements about Melania Trump were defamatory or “actionable libel.”
Wolff alleged in his lawsuit that Melania’s threats in the lawyer’s letter “are designed to create a climate of fear in the nation so that people cannot freely or confidently exercise their First Amendment rights.” He also alleged that the “threats are also intended to shut down legitimate inquiry into the Epstein matter which the Trumps and their collaborators have at every turn sought to impede and suppress.”
On October 29, 2025, Melania removed the lawsuit from state to federal court, where Wolff filed a motion to transfer the case back to the state court. Melania filed motions to dismiss or transfer the case to the federal court in Florida.
All the motion papers in the New York federal court were filed as of February 27, 2026. Based on the timing, there is likely to be a court opinion soon addressing these motions. Melania Trump’s “press conference” was likely designed to get ahead of the bad news that the case will not be dismissed and will stay in New York.
Three other factual matters of interest arising out of Melania’s “press conference.”
First, she stated “I am not a witness or a named witness in connection with any of Epstein’s crimes. My name has never appeared in court documents, depositions, victim statements, or FBI interviews surrounding the Epstein matter.”
There are two problems with her statement. First, an FBI interview report dated July 12, 2019, reflects that a person whose name is redacted told the FBI “Epstein introduced MELANIA TRUMP to DONALD TRUMP.” See EFTA00159322.
Additionally, her statement that does not mention photos is significant because former Deputy and now Acting Attorney General Todd “Blanche said that the Justice Department had redacted images of every woman in the [Epstein] files it just released except for Ghislaine Maxwell.”
Was this a clever technique for Blanche, the ringmaster of the Justice Department’s Epstein files coverup, to protect Melania Trump by not revealing any photos of her in the Epstein files? Is Melania not addressing photos in anticipation of photos of her currently redacted will ultimately be released in an un-redacted form?
Second, in asserting that she “never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell,” Melania stated that her “email reply to Maxwell” of October 23, 2002, released in the Epstein files
cannot be categorized as anything more than casual correspondence. My polite reply to her email doesn’t amount to anything more than a trivial note.
“[A] trivial note” is not exactly consistent with the content of Melania’s reply to Maxwell. Melania signed off on the email with “Love” after writing, “Nice story about JE [Jeffrey Epstein] in NY mag.” [New York Magazine] and asking Maxwell, to “Give me a call when you are back in NY.”
The New York Magazine article is the article in which Trump made the infamous statement about Epstein:
I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy, He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.
Third, Melania ended her “press conference” with a “call on Congress to provide the women who have been victimized by Epstein with a public hearing specifically centered around the survivors.”
This sudden acknowledgement of the plight of the Epstein survivors is a complete about face of the position to date taken by the Trump Administration. Former Attorney General Pam Bondi refused to acknowledge the Epstein survivors standing behind her at a congressional hearing.
Bondi’s then Deputy and now acting AG, Blanche, arranged for Maxwell to provide him with a statement exculpating Tump from Epstein’s crimes, allowed Maxwell to imply that Epstein’s victims were not victims because they had consented to his sexual predation and did not challenge Maxwell’s claim of total innocence in Epstein’s crimes, comparing herself to the victims of the 17th century Salem witch trials. Click here for my article: Acting AG Todd Blanche is the Rasputin of the Epstein Cover-Up.
Bottom line — The Wolff lawsuit is not a positive development for Melania. Once discovery in the case begins, Wolff’s lawyers will be able to question Melania under oath about all of her past dealings and knowledge of Epstein and Maxwell.

Excellent dissection, Nick. This certainly has all the hallmarks of a get out in front and of some sort incoming bad news scenario.
Wolff has been trying to serve her a subpoena for his counter suit. For months and months!
Melania is under pressure after trapping herself in the reverse lawsuit by Michael Wolff, but she is likely terrified of Amanda Ungaro who is apparently on the warpath and threatening to reveal all she knows on Brazilian tv regarding Epstein and Melania after Ungaro was detained by ICE, deported back to Brazil, and lost custody of her son due to the influence of her ex-partner and Trump loyalist Paolo Zampolli. Apparently Ungaro has been sending very angry and threatening tweets from Brazil.
